Osteoarthritis of the foot typically affects the joint at the base of the big toe. This can cause the toe to become stiff, making it difficult to walk. The toe may also become bent, leading to painful bony lumps on the side of the foot (bunions). Mild arthritis in the arch area of the foot is also common as people age. Osteoarthritis of the ankle is usually the result of an injury to that area of the body.

Losing weight may help to alleviate the pressure on one’s feet. Swimming is an excellent option here as it will not cause pain to your feet while you are exercising. If your joints feel stiff in the morning, allow some time for them to loosen up. Throughout the day try to alternate between sitting and standing activities throughout in order the alleviate some pressure.
